Alexus Hansen, MS, LPC
I work with youth and families with a primary focus on trauma. I utilize strength-based, client-centered approaches. I approach therapy from a relational and attachment theory perspective. My goal is to empower you to learn about who you are and focus on what is important to you - your values and life goals, not what others say they “should” be.
I value diversity and collaboration in my practice. I strive to create a non-judgmental and accepting space for diverse values, beliefs, and backgrounds. I believe that you are the expert in your life and experience, my role is to support you in understanding yourself and your life experiences and how they shape young people in to becoming who they are.
I work with kids, teens, and caregivers. Starting at age 5. My primary focus area is trauma, relational stress, and complex family dynamics. I also treat anxiety and depression. I offer parent work to support both the individual as well as the family system. With young kids, I work with parents and children together to support a strong relationship and coach parents in supporting your child’s/children’s development.

About me
I became a therapist because I understand that life can be very challenging. I grew up as the oldest sister in a family that had many struggles. My siblings and I are all very different and coped in very different ways (and we still do). I specialize in working with kids and families because in my experience, the love in my family is what kept us going - even when it was messy. I believe that all kids and families have strengths and positive qualities. My hope is that I can help you identify those things and grow them.
I came to Milwaukee for graduate school at Marquette University. While I was in studying for my master's, COVID happened and so much changed! When I first started in this field, they told us not to do telehealth, and suddenly that was all we could do. After that, I worked in a large organization doing mental and behavioral health consultations in pediatric primary care. Then, I spent several years in outpatient therapy. Now, I am in my own practice.
In my personal life, I live with my husband and our dog, Ollie. We love to go on hikes, go out to restaurants, and visit farmers markets. I love all arts and crafts, cooking, and reading.
